ANIMATED DIGITAL SECONDS
A digital rain of seconds moves across the dial, marking each passing moment against a shifting field of numbers.
Green fills the dial, numbers move behind the hands. Acid recalls the computer terminals of an imagined future, close enough to wear.

At the turn of the millennium, the future was taking shape on screens. Moving numbers, metallic surfaces, electric colours: technology seemed to make every future possible.
LAYDOWN finds an enduring curiosity in these images. MATRIX SIGNAL is its first transmission.
A rounded silhouette, a colourful dial. Then, up close, columns of numbers moving behind the hands. The eye follows their flow, lingering on the patterns as they emerge. Within this space, something of the screens of the 2000s remains: movement, curiosity, the desire to discover what technology still had in store for us.
One press changes the rhythm of the numbers. Another control lights up the dial, giving the colour a new presence. The light fades after a few seconds. Behind the hands, the numbers keep moving, ready to catch your eye again. Try each of the six animations, follow the numbers and find the rhythm you enjoy watching most.
The bracelet peeks out from beneath a sleeve. A reflection follows the movement of a hand. MATRIX SIGNAL becomes part of everyday gestures, carrying echoes of a future imagined long ago. The future had a look. Give it a place on your wrist.
Matrix Signal™ is a Y2K-inspired quartz watch by LAYDOWN, combining analogue hour and minute hands with a digital seconds display and animated background numbers. Its dial brings the visual language of early digital interfaces to a watch worn on the wrist.
Matrix Signal draws on the imagined technologies of the late 1990s and early 2000s: glowing screens, streams of numbers and unfamiliar digital worlds. Within LAYDOWN’s story, the watch carries a transmission from a future imagined at the turn of the millennium.
Digital rain describes the moving numerical patterns behind the analogue hands. Background digits change as the seconds advance, creating the impression of information flowing across an early computer interface. Matrix Signal offers six animation modes, each with a different visual rhythm.
Measure your wrist where you normally wear a watch using a flexible measuring tape. Wrap it snugly around your wrist without tightening it. If you don’t have a measuring tape, use a strip of paper, mark where the ends meet, then lay it flat against a ruler.
Matrix Signal’s bracelet accommodates wrists up to 20 cm and can be shortened by removing links. If your measurement is close to 20 cm, contact us before ordering to check that there will be enough room for a comfortable fit.
Yes. The background numbers and digital seconds change continuously, even when the dial light is off. Press the lower pusher to switch between six animation modes, each with a different visual rhythm.
Matrix Signal™ has two separate lighting features. Pressing the upper pusher illuminates the dial for approximately six seconds before switching off automatically. The hands are luminous after exposure to light; their glow is separate from the push-button dial illumination.
No. Matrix Signal is powered by a replaceable battery rather than a rechargeable system, so it does not require regular charging
